About Giorgio Marinoni
Giorgio Marinoni was born in Pollone (Biella /Italy) on March 31, 1956.His inclination for design and art, that was presentalready in the primary school, led him to attend the textile section ofthe Istituto Tecnico Industriale Q. Sella in Biella, where he was conferedin 1977 the diploma of textile technician and designer.
He started his working career as an assistant atthe Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna in Trivero. In 1981 he left Zegna andmoved to the Fratelli Garlanda Company to design the men’s wear fabriccollection up to 1986. Called to the Lanificio Cerruti 1881, he continuedhis working experience for three years supporting the stylist Nino Cerruti.
Afterwards he worked as a designer at Lanificio diTollegno up to 1991, when he was called to run a small but dynamic company(Moda Biella) with the responsibility for the collection for men’s and forladies wear fabrics.
In this last company his true professional growthtook place as he had the possibility to develop, besides of the omnibuscollection, also exclusive collections for various stylists, among whichArmani, Ungaro, Ferrè and Valentino.In 1998 he established, together withother partners, the woollen mill Tessarte of which he held the office ofexecutive manager and of responsible technical and stylistic official up to2002, year in which he followed his wish of all times and decided to workas a free lance designer, developing collections for men’s and for ladieswear fabrics at the most famous foreign woollen mills and completing hisactivity with the publication of the new books of fashion trends that aregetting an important success.
He dedicates his free time to water-colourpainting. He exhibits with great success his paintings at the end of each year ina show in Biella that has become meanwhile a fixed appointment for the entirelocal population.
